You have the Bose system? Then 4" fit in the door amp/enclosures, though the
Bose speakers use a three-lug rather than four-lug bolt pattern.

At least a couple inches if you stay within the Bose enclosures, more if you
start cutting the metal door panel behind them :)

Nope, release the latch tabs with a small screwdriver into the side-window
defroster vent (look in there with a flashlight first).

Bose system has 6x9 on their own adapters, which can be reused.

I don't have the phone, so I didn't have any dash speakers at all...
I had serious whine with RCAs down the middle, moved both them and the speaker
wires to the driver's side - but too close to the taillight & defroster wires
going into the trunk so there is a slight whine when I have defroster & lights
on.
