100TQW MAC14 MC-2 won't start

The MAC05/MAC07 way, with the KG engine?  It looks _just_ like that -
the needle slewed straight to 3500 and sat there as steady as a rock.
Had me digging out the old stuff, too.  Then it stopped happening as
abruptly as it started.
