When I pulled the 400 out of my '69 GTO for a rebuild at 120k miles, every
ring in the engine was broken. I suspect over-revving by the PO given the
low gearing and high HP.
And...you could still see the factory cross-hatching the full length of the
cylinders.
High oil usage prompted the rebuild.
