Hello Wiley,
Some consider the 1987.5 coupes to be the best of them all. You want
to see if it has the 2.2 or 2.3 litre motor. The 2.3 litre motor has
130HP and is more desireable over the 2.2. Low end torque is superb in
the coupe GT. It can just about outhandle any car on the road, quattro
or not. The coupe GT's in the USA were all front wheel drive.

137,000 miles is very low for that car. "Bulletproof" is the word
usually used to describe those motors. Things to look for:

1) Loud/Noisy Lifters (Common, usually cured by the right oil combo)
2) Fuel Pump (If it is very loud, it needs replacement)
3) Valve Cover Gasket (2.3l only) Pain to replace
4) Rear Brakes (Check to see if handbrake works & RELEASES
5) A/C -- $$$$ Condensors and compressors go quick!
6) Small AUX Radiator in grill (Usually rots away and leaks) $150-225
to replace

I know there are many things to look at. All I say is, "If the price is
right, go for it!"
