re. vapor lock ? 89 200tq

Bad Warm-up/Fuel Pressure Regulator?  You will need to run fuel pressure
tests to be sure.

Next Guesses would include Fuel-Injector O-Rings (replace Fuel injectors and
get the O-Rings replaced when you do it.  This is a shotgun approach, but if
you havn't replaced them from many miles, would probably be money well
spent.  BTDT and alleviated hard start symptoms - COLD not HOT which is why
I suspect Warmup Regulator on yours - this symptom plagued me on many
previous VWs&Audis with CIS and 2/3 times it was the Regulator.

'87 5KCSTQW - Assuming that the '89 200TQ is similar F.I. - Still CIS with
Warmup Block mounted FP Regulator, or did they go to Motronic then?

Well I've tried the professionals, now I will try the best.

1989 200TQ, 168k, WAUGC5442KN098256 - 3rd owner

The Audi is in pretty good shape, upkeep, records etc. No great problems =
in the past (except there is always something to fix).

Problem:
On warm days (75 and above) after about a 15 min drive (or longer and =
sometimes shorter) the car will not start until it has rested appox 22.5 =
mins (on Tuesdays it is more like 27.5 mins) preferably with its hood =
open. This has been going on all summer and is driving me batty. I have =
learned to add an additional 20+ mins to each of my sales calls ... non =
chargeable.

I became impatient with it one day in August and turned the garden hose =
on the engine .... and it started right up .... just can not take a hose =
with me around town.

It runs fine when it runs, and I hope to own it for another 168k miles.

SO .... do you have any ideas, any BTDTs.
