I'm not going to argue w/ you on this point, but it still depends
on the case. They do not _always_ deny warranty claims.
Of course, chipping is caveat emptor, but how many listers have
chipped their 5ktqs and 200tqs without any problems?
A new 2.7T engine will probably run you upwards of $15k, if you
have to actually replace the whole thing.
People chip their 993tts and that is a $30k+ engine that you're
messing with.
If the chip is done properly, you should not have any major problems.
However, there are a lot of hack jobs out there.

Not up to the dealer, but the "Regional Rep" according to my best friend,
who is having a hell of a time with VWoA and a blown TDI engine...and a
"Wett" chip. I'm assuming Audi and VW have similar protocals.

A new TDI engine installed is $8500. Ouch.
