Help - idle problem - Could it be hose?

I recently did a fair amount of work on my '91 coupe. I replaced the valve
cover gasket which required removing a bunch of stuff off the top of the
engine. I also ended up replacing the distributor cap & rotor. I have had
a problem with the idle dropping way low (and even died once). It usually
happens when I am decelerating. The higher the rpm I am coming down from
the more it seems to undershoot the typical 900 - 1000 rpm range for idle.
I found a pretty good size hole in a hose that comes off the throttle body
with a 90 degree bend hose then wraps around the back of the engine. I
still haven't found it in the Bentley as to where it ends up. I was
thinking it was some kind of exhaust hose and since it is "hard plastic"
interior, it may be a vacuum hose. Any ideas? I am hoping it had nothing
to do with the distributor cap/rotor since the rotor was slotted.
All comments appreciated.
Thanks
Mark
