Idea is good, however I'd venture a guess that the commutator is probably worn as well as the brushes (though carbon brushes do wear faster than copper/bronze commutators). IOW, although the re-brushed motor will work, the commutator wear will just increase until it fails, AND the worn commutator will probably wear the brushes faster. Also, at least the place I ordered the blower motor from (forgot who, it was 2 yrs ago and I have enough trouble remembering yesterday) had a core charge on the motor.

Since you now know how to do "re and re" it....I'd say go ahead and re-brush
it. Maybe take the motor in to an electric motor shop and get their quickie
(read: free) opinion on it.
