90 80 hard cold start

any body have any hints for me to look for on my wifes
car?? it is a bear to start cold. you crank,it fires,
then dies. does this 3 to 4 times then finally starts.
it drives her crazy!!! now shes driving me crazy!!! 4
cyl, auto, newer plugs,cap,rotor,wires, fuel filter,
air filter.
