Martin -
On my car ('87 5k), I was able to remove the lock cylinder from the new
and old door handles, note the arrangement of the little brass wafers in
the old lock, and rearrange the wafers in the new lock to match. Not
much to it. I don't know if all keys use the same wafers, just in
different combinations; you might have to reuse your old wafers in your
new lock.
