I just recently resubscribed to the list after about a year's absence so forgive me if I'm
incorrect regarding current etiquette guidelines, but, it would be nice if we could refrain
from questionable language at the very least in the subject line.  Some of us get the list at
our places of employment who frown on that type of thing.

OTOH, I'm not surprised based on your e-mail domain.

Listers-

At the risk of making myself the laughing stock of the entire list, I am
going to present my problem.

I changed the right outer tie rod end the other day in Auto Tech class. My
first repair besides changing oil. Now bear in mind I am anything but
knowledgable when it comes to fixing my cars. Hence the class. Anyways...the
little locking clamp that goes over the end of the rod (the tapered end) is
the problem. I never took it off of the old tie rod end and put it on the new
one! In the garbage it went! So now I go to get an alignment and yes siree
Bob, I need that damn screw on clamp. The only way to get one is to buy a
whole new tie rod assembly. So please listers, help me out here, I need that
damn little clamp. My mechanic said he would have one but couldnt find it.
His price was $0.50. Someone MUST have one lying around somewhere. And all of
this happened after my Jetta met its maker, a telephone pole, this morning in
a PARKING LOT. The only contributing factor to the crash was the
inattentivemess of the driver to her course! And of course, yours truly has
just liability insurance, so I just took a big loss on that car. Anways,
enough drivel. If anyone has the clamp I need or even a whole tie rod
assembly, I would be ever so grateful if you could let me know and send it my
way.
