VIN History?

OK,

I know that at least a few of you have done this...  The local dealer
will not provide me with a historical service record, citing "between
the dealer and the former owner."  In their defense, I also would prefer
that my personal info (address, etc) NOT be handed to a stranger.  Of
course, I need only the info particular to the vehicle.

Anyone able to help me obtain a printout of the factory service provided
to my newly purchased (used) sedan?

*brand new tranny and clutch might be worth something to someone.  Hate
to see the car parted out, but syncro did his duty manyfold.  Waiting
for adjuster comments...
