When my sedan needed front struts a good while back, I went to the "import
repair emporium" around the corner from work. Noticed a 911 in the shiny
repair bay. Asked the nice lady behind the counter how much to install
front struts. She says $425 (!). When I asked why it was that much, she
points to the front of a ovloV sedan with a front strut missing: "Because we
have to take whole front end of car apart to do it." Um, no.
Bought the right tools and struts, did 'em myself in an hour. Cost about
$200 all told, tools included.
As much as I like Porsches, I view them as a warning sign when entering a
new shop, and let the buyer beware.
