Help! Afterrun Fan no longer running

Well I replaced my thermostat and heater control valve this weekend and in
the process I think I broke something...

The fan no longer does its little after run bit when I shut the car down
when its warm.
The fan still runs when the engine is on though, so that is at least good.

What should I look into?

Here is what I did:
Replace the Heater Control valve (in the process I bumped a hose on a small
silver box against the firewall directly above the heather control valve the
hose runs to a larger round box at the back of the engine block (the hose
was shot at the round box back of the engine block)

and replaced the thermostat
pulled the lower radiator hose off and the wire harness just below it that
connects to the radiator
pulled off the thermostat hosing pulled and replace the thermostat.
put the thermostat hosing back on (with new gasket) and connected the lower
radiator hose.
The wiring harness only seemed to fit one way so it also went back on.
I fill the radiator with new orange fluid and topped off the reserve with a
hose and managed to get everything wet inside (9 year old son thought it
would be funny to get dad all wet so he turned the hose on 'high')

so now the afterrun fan doesn't run...

Did I do something is the R&R process or is it just coincidence?

thanks for the help!
