just an idea,
I have a similar problem (and have had on both my 4kq's...) there are three rear
diff mounts, the two easy ones, and then there is the one requiring dropping of
the subframe, the circular mount on the rear of the diff, it couldn't be that
could it? On my old car, replacing the two easy mounts made the clunk slightly
quieter.
Other ideas I've had are the exhaust on the underside of the body, or even the
wadding inside the exhaust making an unpleasant noise, or a loose fuel
pump/fuel filter, or even a loose fuel tank?
I've not looked into any of these as there are other things on the car that I
am more concerned with (unless it is a loose fuel pump/filter/tank) I may try
wedging the rear mount with something appropriate (The Sunday Sport?) this
weekend and see if that cures it?
Cherio,
Graham
