A4 steering wheels

Does anyone know if the steering wheels in the later cars
are interchangeable with the older ones?

What I'd like to know is if the A4 "sport" steering wheel is
a direct bolt-on affair for a 5ktq. If it is, I will start
looking for an A4 steering wheel, probably from a wreck, as
I don't want the airbag. Is the airbag an integral part of the
steering wheel cover, or can you get the cover separately?

If the airbag was not there, I'd very quietly take the steering
wheel off the A4 and test fit it on the 5ktq, but I'm not familiar
with the working of the airbag and I don't want the thing to go off
while I'm working on it.
