engine/turbo theory question

Yes there has to be.  You don't get something for nothing.
Just like a blower equipped car loses power from the blower drive belt.  Top
fuel cars lose like 600 horsepower thru the blower drive.  Of course the
motors generate 3-4k hp.  There is extra back pressure from the exhaust
turbine restricting the exhaust flow, but obviously it is overshadowed by
the benefits of positive intake manifold pressure.
