I've driven on a few snow tires. My recollections:

Yoko Guardex were very good in dry and snow, though I was driving a rear
wheel drive car at the time, and limited my snow exposure to strictly "fun"
times (working at home has serious advantages).

(Can't recall the manufacturer) Hercules also do very good in the dry. They
so far outperformed the OEM tires on the Cavalier that we tossed them away
and my wife drove on the snows all summer this summer (after this winter,
though, she's going to take my OEM Contis).

Just got Toyo Observe put on the A6 Wednesday. The sidewall is quite a bit
less stiff than the Conti Touring OEMs, and with the suspension doing a
decent job at isolation, it almost feels uncomfortably like floating,
especially around corners (I'm tempted to draw comparisons to the feeling
just as four wheel drift kicks in, but the truth is that it's not drifting).
These come with a money back satisfaction guarantee, so I'm considering
swapping them out for Michelin Pilot Alpins if my confidence level doesn't
go up a notch or two soon. Of course, it's still pretty warm around here, so
that may have something to do with it.

Best regards,
