Die-Hard or Interstate Battery? on a 97 A4Q

To Joel and the list,

It's been awhile since I bought a battery at retail for any car, so I don't
know if this advice is worth it to the Audi croud. My Merkur uses one of
the batteries with the L shaped posts (47L, I think) that are pretty hard to
come by. (And expensive.) I could always change to the standard round
posts, but why. Anyhow, try this if you want a deal and you don't care how
your battery 'looks'. Call whomever your local distributor may be (I use an
Interstate distributor) and see if they have any blemished batteries they'd
be willing to sell. Only thing is, you have to know what battery you need
(47L, for example). I picked up my last Merkur battery ($70 at retail,
special order only) for $25 in stock because I bought it directly from the
distributor without labels. I always feel good when I can bypass the
middlemen and get a deal.

Cheers,

Eric Wulf
