Saw that project on something like the Discovery Channel.  Couple of young 
guys (I think they may have been high schoolers or junior college students) 
converted diesel engines to run on cooking oils they'd scrounge from burger 
places and then filter repeatedly before dumping into the fuel (or is it 
gruel?) tank.  If I remember correctly, they burned up several engines 
before getting a system that would take them across the country.  Great 
bunch of kids!!
