I beleive you- that perception has nothing to do with the turbo's
presence, though, but instead is driven by two things:
1> Design decisions in the *engine* that accomodate the greater mass flow
they assume the turbo will provide. (Which are then the engine's fault,
not the turbo's)
2> The "butt-o-meter" factor that notices a huge difference as the turbo
spools, and so perceives the pre-boost power to be less than it really is.
