Radiator fan resistor unit

Does the fan run at different speeds i.e. "gentle breeze" with AC on through
to "suck the unbraked car along the road" when left to idle for several mins
????
If not I would say some sections of the resistor have died and so been
by-passed.
With a multi-meter you should be looking for 1-2 ohms per section.
