Fuel Lines

The fuel line and the supply line on my 1988 Quattro 90 have rusted behind 
the heat shield next to the cat converter. I know that the supply is a high 
pressure line. Is there any reason I could not just cut out a 12" piece of 
the steel tubing and install a section of stainless steel braided fuel line 
with hose clamps. The guy at the speed shop said that the line is rated for 
250 psi.
