New Audi owner here...87 4000cs (87 4kcs, learning)

A Few details and ?'s

Details:

    ThanX to those that gave info on the 87 4kcs/87 4kcsq question I asked a 
few days ago. Well, I'm the proud owner of a 87 4kcs. I picked up this car 
from some nice folks looking to get rid of it since there son wasn't able to 
drive stick (he likes his Auto, I'm really sorry to here that..hehe)

    The car is is GREAT shape, # of miles (157,000) though being a VW 84 A1 
GTI, 88 Fox Owner I know that milage is just a number to recall your memories 
of where and what you were doing. The Front bumber has a 'love tap' on the 
pass. side. (The bumber marker lights aren't even cracked) Other than that 
the car is structurally sound. Interior is in "Perfect-Showroom" quality. 

Questions: Answer by question# would be great ... ThanX

    1. The car has the 1.8L, which is great since my 84 GTI parts fit nicely. 
What would be some worth while Mods? (Engine/Suspension)

    2. Is there different trannies for that yr/model? (I know for instance 
that the 84 GTI had numberous (numberous) trannies for that year.)

    *3. The interior center console has the 3 dials ... Volts/Bar/Temp ... 
What is the significance of the Bar?  ( I know, I know ... beer ... lol )

    4. Clutch - Is that a pain, being that engine is switched up like my VW 
Fox?
