Well I wasn't going to reply, but that is exactly what popped into my head -
you need a new mechanic.
Find someone who can do a level set/baseline on your car.
Check - timeing belt is installed correctly and everything is lined up as it
should be.
Perform a compression test to make sure all cylinders are getting uniform
compression within specifications.
It is real difficult to diagnose the problem from the symptoms you've
described, but it sounds like your valve timing imight be way off.
A good mechanic should be able to pinpoint the problem within about two
hours.
