Ah, but how about the rear? Rear fender rubbing is the first
point of interference on these cars when one starts reducing
the offset from the stock 45 mm. But tire size, wheel width
and lowering also affect the outcome so the answer to the
38 mm question is not a simple yes/no. More like "expect

with stock ride height, and stock 205 55 16 tires, the 38mm offset A8 wheels
will fit on the rear, albeit close, but dont rub. i ran A8 (38mm) wheels on
the front, and A4 (45mm) wheels on the rear (they look the same, both 5 spoke
16") on my '86 5000 turbo. worked great. but both A4 or A8 wheels will fit
all the way around if you havent lowered your car.
