        It was a Xantia, but the reason they caught up in the Renault is
because:
            1)  The M5 driver was a chick
            2)  The Chase was in traffic and, although the BMW has better
accel/speed, the Renault has better handling in that kind of traffic
situation.  Trust me, I know ---- 1 trip to France/ 2 hours experience/
270kph in a 406/ 1 change of underwear!
        But still, there is little plausability to that scenario in the
tunnel.
