I knew that this would come up, Dave.
You are right, but that was not what I wanted to say. Audi and VW both try
to do as if the Haldex is capable of shifting the whole power to one axle.
That is rubbish for me.
Haldex can only do that if the ground is according.
If the front tires are in the air (or on ice, if you like), the power goes
to the rear, of course.
I was also talking about real torque splitting like in the planetary
central diff of the BMW, where constantly more torque (and thereby power) reaches
the rear axle. (I know, it is fixed on that system.)
I don't know if I made my point clear, this is a topic I find hard to
describe even in German, much more so in English.
To make it clear in very simple words: Haldex can be like a FWD but not
like a RWD. Because even if the rear tires have all the power (like a RWD) the
front tires will rotate (UNlike a RWD). That was my point. ;)
