Audi vs. Subaru sales

For what it's worth, my parents, current Subie owner ('90 Legacy wagon
AWD) don't want to replace it with another Subie. They're looking at
ovloV (too pricey) or the A4 1.8T Q Avant Tiptronic or the Passat V6 Tipo
4-Motion.  From what I know, the 1.8T will get better gas milage than the
2.8 30V, and will still have adequate power with the slushbox. Any list
opinions? Since Volvo doesn't seem to see fit to have the AWD drivetrain
in the more affordable models, it looks like we'll be welcoming  them
back into the VAG fray.
