Audi mechanic in London, UK?

Hi,

Since January this year I'm the owner of a 1988 Audi 100 2.2E.

Since I've had the car it has always had difficulty starting, always
needing 10-20 secs. of turning before catching. Today it wouldn't start at
all.

With my previous Audi (a 2.3E) I noticed that upon starting I always heard
a pump-like sound for about 1 second. I always thought that this was the
initial filling of the cylinders to make the engine catch quickly. On my
current Audi I don't hear that sound. Could that have anything to do with
it?

The car also uses lots of gasoline, I get about 250-300 miles out of 80
liters. I once sent it to an auto electronics shop to check this (and the
difficult starting), they did a "Krypton" test, concluded that the fuel
distributor was bad and fixed it. However, that didn't change the fuel
consumption nor the difficult starting and I was 400 pounds lighter.
On the same occasion the shop also installed a "modification" because the
engine would sometimes die while running, because the coil didn't get any
power. The alternative to the "modification" would be a new circuit
breaker box according to them.

So, I need some good diagnostics from a competent mechanic, at least
someone who knows these cars. Is there anyone who can recommend one in
SW London (near Heathrow)?

Thanks for any help!

Cheers,
Jan
