body both the CC and accelerator have an independent pull on the throttle
plate. On my 5kCSQ Avant the throttle cable was not adjusted correctly so
that when you applied full pressure to the accelerator the cable was being
stressed ... eventually it broke right at the point where the cable comes
off the bellcrank. I managed to drive home about 10 miles by ... hose
clamping the stump of the cable to the CC link rod! :-)

IME, the metal piece that attaches to the vacuum motor is free to rotate.
What I've done on all my cars is to rotate that metal piece so that if the
plastic bushing were to break the metal bracket on the vacuum motor would
support it and prevent the rod from falling down and jamming ... not all
cars have the CC rod oriented horizontally though ...
