headlight swaps... 100 into 200

I JUST finished this job on my '89 200tqa.

you need the 100 grill of course. you lose the corner mounting points for the
chrome trim that runs on top of the bumper. i tweaked about this for a while
and tried to resolve it but then bagged it, and removed the little plastic
corner supports from the trim and it doesn't seem to be a problem since there
are several other screws to retain it.

re: space, you have to tweak the air intake horn slightly, not a biggie. more
significantly, you have to remount the remote battery post. i found that i
could remove the 2 screws, drill another hole or two in the plastic block it
mounts to, and fairly easily remount it in almost the same place without
interference.

after this is is a very tight fit but everthing does seem to work. the corners
snap in very tightly against the body but haven't fallen off yet.

you also need - new light sockets for the corners. the 200 ones don't work, as
they are totally different animals. neither do the US 100 ones, since they
have 3 mounting tabs instead of 2. however the 100 ones are the same diameter,
so if you cut all but 1 of the tabs off they will fit, although be retained by
a single tab instead of 2. the O ring seems to work and seal the units fine
against water so far even with the one tab.

AudiDudi has some comments on his website about making room for installing 200
euros that pretty much applies to the swap too:
