calipers were $207 canadian less 90 core credit so $117 each canadian. they
exactly like the old ones right
down to the vw/audi part number in the casting. they come from Fenco in
toronto.
not all CT's are the same. my local CT told me it they did not carry brakes
for a 200q. then when i gave them their part number he said it would take a
few days to get the calipers into his store. another store across the city
(winnipeg) promised to have the parts in 3 hours and both times i called
they did. yes everyone, including me has some crappy tire stories, but they
really helped out on this job.
you can check fenco web site www.fencoparts.com . quality seems quite good
to me. figure i stripped the bleeder by over titening. it took all the
tread off the bottom of the screw. with second screw i did not over titen
and it seems to be working just fine.
originally i wanted to try rebuilding the caliper as others have suggested,
but i need my car daily and just don't have the time, patience and skill to
tackle the rebuild. i took the piston out and quickly decided for mois, it
would likely be an exercise in extreme frustration and i would end up
looking for a ride to work.
