The Michelin Man hose between the intercooler and the intake casting that
says turbo on it (the hose with the wire in its grooves) most likely has a
slit beneath the wire in one of the grooves on the backside of it. The
test for a failed MM hose is to remove it from the car, hold the ends in
your palms and pump it like an accordian. You'll know real soon whether it
holds pressure.
The black plastic duct actually works the other way: It brings air from a
fan to the injectors to help cool them when the engine is shut
down. Supposedly prevents fuel percolation and vapor lock.
