***Help*** Brake pedal goes to the floor on every 3rd pump (5KT)

Hi All,

I was driving my car to the hospital yesterday and at the first stop light
the brake pedal went to the floor.  I pumped the brakes 2 or 3 times and got
enough braking to stop.  I pulled over at my first opportunity and did a
quick "inspection".  Brake fluid level is between the marks and I could see
no fluid leaking down any of the wheels.  I drove on to the hospital in
Redwood City puckering all the way and managed to get it there and back
without incident.

I have an appointment to have a lot of work done on 9.6.00 including the
brakes.  Apparently I waited a few days too late.

Pumping the brakes produces a firm pedal on what seems to be the 3rd pump.
Of the 3 or so pumps, one of the pumps goes to the floor and the other pump
goes almost to the floor.  While maneuvering to get into my parking space,
it seemed like half the brake system is working and the other half is not.

Anybody have any ideas on quick and dirty solutions to this problem?
