That's a pretty harsh message. 5 liter 308 engines are easily acquired by
over-boring the cylinders. In my opinion, neither the 305 nor the 302 are
particularly weak engines. It has been my experience that the 302 is very
soild, especially the bottom end. I'm not really sure as to what your
justification might be.
And I think that plenty of people on this list(including myself) do things
that their car wasn't really meant to do, and have fun doing it.

For the record, there's no such thing as a 5 liter 308 cubic inch stang
(that is unless your friends car is an oddball). The ford 5 liter is a 302,
GM 5 liter is a 305. Both are weak motors.
Also, congrats to you for using the quattro to do something it wasn't meant
to do and accel at it. Especially when you consider that the Mustang was
really made for drag racing, the quattro for off road.
