Audi Ur-Q vs. Mustang 308

Steven,
If the drivers are of equal skill, I don't think so. The cars in question
involved a _stock_ UrQ versus a modified Mustang. I've seen plenty of
non-supercharged Mustangs putting out serious horsepower- they are very,
very fast in a straight line. Just looking at power-to-weight ratios, a
250-300hp Mustang has a large advantage over a 160hp UrQ.
New turbo and chipping changes the game completely.
I'd like to see some timeslips showing a stock UrQ running the 1/4.
As I said before, IMHO, Audis are not well suited to drag racing, but since
we are discussing it....

AFAIK this was a posting to audifans ... not audiworld. AFAIK David's car
is a fairly stock '85 urquattro. Believe what you will, but I know I've had
a very similar experience with my stock '83 urquattro. I can't explain why
it is the case ... I drove a 5 liter 5-speed back in '86 before I found the
urq that I bought ... they certainly feel quick. OTOH I can also recount a
tale where I was embarassed by a VW ur-beetle (I didn't know we were racing
at first, but I was still unable to overtake him). Now, with the new turbo
and Schrappnell Knobben adding a couple PSI I doubt I'd have a problem ...
