Now everyone calm down. Nobody is trying to alienate anyone. A

Geesh.
Nobody on this mailing list invented any codes for his Audi with
the intent of keeping secrets from the less informed guys. The
good folks at Audi invented these codes. Check your VIN.
Referring to a Type 44 is actually more useful in many cases
because our good European friends never had any car called a
5000 because it was always a 100 or 200 over there, but we all
got the Type 44 per the VIN.
