Went by the local hydraulic supply and repair house with the kinked oil
cooler line. He looks at it and says "I _think_ I can repair it re-using
those funky German metric ends, but I have to destroy the line to find out,
is that okay?" I say sure, if you can't its useless to me anyhow.
An hour later he calls me back and says its ready, and the price is only
$33!
If your oil cooler lines are weeping, have 'em rebuilt, don't get gouged by
the dealers. Thank you to all the listers who have posted this in the past,
you saved me some buck$.
BTW, with regard to pulling the lines off the oil cooler, I am 6'1" and
200+lbs and had to put all my body weight behind the wrench to break it
loose. And this was on an oil cooler from a southern car with no visible
corrosion on the fittings.
