If I recall correctly, the NR500 came out in 79 (year I gave up on
English bikes and bought my first rice burner). The 4 stroke 32 valve
was limited to 500cc because it was built specifically to race in the GP
bike series, where 2 strokes rule to this day. I remember watching it
TRY to race, it was completely unreliable and plagued with problems. It
was impressive in that it could sustain something like 23,000 RPM's,
when it ran.
