Paul,
I don't want to jinx you, but I thought it was relatively easy compared to
some of the horror stories I was hearing.
Make wsure you are running on fumes, eg. 1/16 of a tank of gas left, and
this make the job easier.
I actually removed my pump, only to find it had been replaced with the newer
style Pierpoint.
I can definately see how this job would be much more difficult in a sedan,
as you would have to crawl into the trunk and hope your wife doesn't close
the trunk on you:} while you contort yourself to the proper position to
remove pump. In the Wagon, however, no problem.
It took me about an hour out/hour in. Remove the trunk cover to get the
carpet out of the way easier.

Say, Steve, can anyone wander up and replace the fuel pump in an avant or
are special tools required? I have an 87CSTQW that has a very noisy pump and
may have fuel pressure problems. I would like to look at the screen if it's
not too difficult.
