I'm going to dig this out but as far as used goes don't bother. Audi wants
to sell you a new distributor to replace this part but you can obtain a
replacement bosch part and drill out the distributors retaining pin to
replace it. Reassemble using a cleavis (sp?) pin available from most auto
parts stores. You may have to trim it down to get the right length but
mines been in for over a year now and running great.

ps - killed mine (hall sensor) by doing a power wash on the engine and
starting it wet - damn.

Subject: Distributor Hall sensor part #
I suspect my problem with not starting when hot is the Hall effect sensor
in the distributor as suggested by list members. My test using an LED (per
Scott's web page) was inconclusive, but I wanted to try changing the sensor
anyway to prove the diagnosis one way or the other.
However, my fiche does not give a part number for the sensor. Has anyone
changed this part and have a part number, source and approximate cost? If
anyone has a used one for sale I would be interested in that too.
This is for a 1986 5000 CSTQ
Thanks,
Paul
