KH vs. MC

I still don't get why the MC is rated at such a high hp. The KH is 140hp,
but the MC is 158-162hp. The KH bore size is only .06 smaller than the MC,
which should only give you a max of 8-10hp gain. Also, the compression
ratio is much lower. The KH is up at 8.3:1 while the MC is 7.8:1. This
makes no sense, unless there is more boost or if there is a radical cam in
there. But I thought the stock boost was .4 bar. I remember reading
somewhere there are Audi's that let the boost go real high for a few
seconds during WOT, but I thought that was for an S4 or something. What
makes the engine more powerful under a lighter compression? If it's excess
boost, doesn't the K26 turbo take a long while to spool up, making it less
powerful at low rpms, when you consider the inefficient 7.8:1 comp ratio.
Why didn't they just use a smaller dish piston and keep the old ratio?
Usually as engines advance, they up the compression, not decrease...
