Denver Audi dealerships

Listers,

If I did not need to depressed further about the state of
dealerships around Denver the last couple of weeks did
not help.

First off a contractor a work buys a brand spanking new S4,
good news says I (hoping to take it for a test drive ;-).
After three days "check engine" light is on, engine wont
fire and it takes four hours to get it towed back to McDonald
Audi. After three more days they still have not even looked
at it, the owner is somewhat miffed driving a rental box
while his 50K pride and joy is sitting idle.

The other events relate to my attempts to get parts and a coworkers
attempts to get service.

Dealer A (Porsche & Audi) parts dept transaction

Me: I need three crush rings for the oil plugs for a 79 930.

Parts: You mean two crush rings

Me: No three. Oil tank, sump and Turbo tank

Parts: We better get out the docs.... yep you are right, there are
three! We only have the sump/tank rings though.

Me: How do you change customer's oil then?

Parts: Oh we don't bother with the Turbo tank.

Me: How silly, it only holds 1 liter of dirty oil feeding the Turbo in
a classic car running a highly stressed engine.... why should I
expect a dealer to change all of the oil.

Dealer B (McD#$#@ld or something like that :-)

Fellow worker: What do you mean my S70 with 60K mi needs new engine
mounts? I bought it from you 500 mi ago as a
                "certified" used Volv0.

Asst Serv Mgr: We can't predict all failures.

Fellow worker: What exactly do you check on a "certified" used Volv0?

Asst Serv Mgr: I don't know but I can ask at our weekly staff meeting.

I am forever grateful for "non dealer" mechanics and parts places,
I sure as heck am going to keep supporting them.

Cheers
