accelleration hesitation in warm 5kcstq

my 5000 hesitates during acceleration when the outside air temperature is
65º Ÿ or above(once the engine is warmed up). on a cool or cold day, there
is no hesitation no matter how warm the engine is. i think that the air flow
sensor plate is dropping and wonder if i can test this by securing it in the
upward position. if it is the plate, why? also, can anyone think of what
else may be causing this? thanks...
