After dodging water puddles for the 1st 20 miles, I made the trip with more
or less a clean car. The format was different this year - unless you really
arrived early, there was no grouping by make or model. I'm not sure it was
good or bad, but it forced you to walk through the entire show to find the
cars you wanted to look at. A new 996 C4 parked next to me which probably
attracted a few people that wouldn't have normally looked at my 91 200.
Before I even filled out the information card and placed it in the
windshield, there were handful of people who stopped by and wanted to know
more about Audis and Quattros. By then a friend of mine pulled in with his
356 C coupe. We both planned on leaving about noon but when we came back
from walking around the show we were both surprised to find a finalist
sticker each of our windshields. Our curiosity got the best of us, so we
stayed until 2 o'clock for the awards. My friend won P car class and more
surprisingly, I won the German "other" class. I didn't get to see all the
cars but there must have been a real shortage of Audis - I guess I won by
default.
Next year I'll try to organize an Audi section & pull in some of the local Q
club / S car members.
I know there are dozens of cars in the Twin Cities that are much nicer than
mine.
Thanks to everyone who voted for the Black 200.
