Subject: Michelin Man hose and bypass valve
Fellow listers -
The 5kcstq has not been generating less boost and more whooshing sound
lately, and sure enough the Michelin Man has split on the underside. And
that's with stock boost levels, even.
Before I go and get a new factory one from Carlsen, I thought I'd check
and see if I should consider any other alternatives. I'm interested in
adding a bypass valve, if it's possible without welding or other major
modifications, and running a 1.8 bar chip in the future.
Thanks for the replies about oxygen sensors, by the way. Rather than
borrow a digital oscilloscope from the office, I'll just go ahead and
replace the sensor; it's certainly past 30k miles, and it's probably not
worth the diagnosis trouble to assess its condition.
