How To: Fix sagging headliner

I finally got off my butt and fixed my headliner in the 87 5KCSTq this
weekend.
I had made a (weak) attempt to fix it a few weeks back:
Cleaned out the loose foam, sprayed with 3M adhesive, and stuck it back up.
This lasted all of a few days. The glue held perfect, but the foam is the
problem.
This made it more of a mess to do properly:
Get out a couple putty knifes, remove the jesus christ handles from the
rear, pull
The headliner down back to the rear of the sunroof. Scrape all the orange
foam out of there.
Get it all out, leaving a nice smooth surface. I tried to make a smooth
transition between the
Foam up front (still there and holding) to the lack of foam in the rear.
Make sure you clean the
fabric, too. (this probably isn't necessary unless you attempted to glue it
back up without
removing the foam (like I did first time, above). Once all the foam is
gone, and you have a nice
surface to stick to, vacuum the car out. Get the ceiling, the liner, the
floor, everything. Then, go
and clean your hands. Come back out to the car, spray the 3M adhesive to
the ceiling and the
fabric of the headliner. I used a little less than ½ of a can. Let it sit
a minute, and then slowly,
carefully reapply the fabric to the ceiling. Start at the front and work
your way back. The jesus
christ bars are hard to do without some fabric folding. Re-install these,
they won't sit as flush as
they used to, because you removed ~ 8mm of foam. I got it all done in about
2 hours, and it's
still holding strong. I wouldn't say it looks as good as new, but it is
much better that the spider
web of yarn I had going from the jesus christ handles to the rear seat
headrests! I can see out
the rear view mirror.
Hope that helps someone.
