So Todd mentioned that the KH turbo [oil-cooled only] had a smaller hot
side, making it a quicker spool. So I was thinking if I get a water-cooled
turbo and take out the bearing housing, and use my old turbine, compressor,
and housings I should have a reliable quick-spool turbo. Unless the shafts
are a different diameter. The shaft on mine is supposed to be ~.394". The
bearing o.d. is .629". Anyone know if the water-cooled k26 has a wider
shaft? Also what years does it go up to...'85-? If you have an old k26 w/
water, let me know, actually all I need is the center bearing housing. I
will rebuild the turbo since it will go on a new engine. Thanks.
