Gear shift knob removal

Hi, I asked once before and either it's a really dumb question or nobody
knows.  I got a nice leather and burlwood automatic gear shift knob to
replace the stock knob.  How do you take them off?  Doesn't "feel" like it
unscrews.  Does the square shaped top piece pry off?  I don't want to try
prying it off if it's not supposed to.  Thanks.
